Bob Fludgate

Born in North London, Bob has lived in Ramsgate since 1980.

Bob Fludgate began his artistic journey around 1990. His work has always been influenced by his environment and his interests; initially by the French School of Impressionists, when he studied and made freehand copies of works by Dégas, followed by drawings of professional Jazz musicians at popular clubs including the Churchill Tavern in Ramsgate.

Bob Fludgate’s career blossomed after moving into a studio that afforded excellent afternoon sunlight and an extensive view over Ramsgate. His attention was held by the effects of light that glowed through flowers and glasses of wine, which he captured in vibrant colours in his lively still lifes.

Bob Fludgate’s paintings and drawings range in size from 24”x 30” to a six-part work, which is about 9ft long, plus a 4ft x 10ft triptych.
