Carol Gay

Carol initially trained as a textile designer graduating from Winchester College of Art in 1992. She went on to design print fashion and furnishing fabrics for high street stores Monsoon, Oasis, Macys NY and Dorma.

Carol took a break from textile design and taught in Secondary schools until 2000 when she began family life with husband Stuart. Since 2002 Carol has been focused on developing her own work, working freelance and exhibiting at various galleries and shows around the UK. The natural environment that surrounds her has inspired Carol’s recent work.

Since moving to Margate this has been dominated by the rich coastline and agricultural land of Kent. Although Carol usually works in multimedia, her current work predominantly uses sculpture and photography.

Carol combines her love of pattern, colour and structure by working with natural materials and sculpting them into patterns and 3D forms. Through digital photography these pieces can be photographed before they decay and return to the ground. Her work can be viewed as purses, cushions, cards, 2D and 3D framed pictures.
